Come celebrate GIS Day at FIU!

 

Join the FIU GIS community in celebrating GIS Day at the Green Library GIS Center (2nd Floor) from 9:30-4:00 pm on Friday March 6th. Come browse through student research posters and attend any of the GIS Faculty Forum presentations to learn more about GIS and Remote Sensing Research at FIU.

 

 

GIS Faculty Forum

 

9:30 am- 4:00pm  GL 273

Faculty and graduate students will present 30-45 minute talks about research they are involved in using GIS and Remote Sensing. Coffee and snacks will be served during the morning coffee break.

Poster Competition

Submit your posters and you have a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to the University Bookstore and a Free one year ArcGIS License!

Students involved in research utilizing GIS and Remote Sensing technologies are encouraged to submit their posters and maps. Posters will be displayed in the Green Library in room 273 and in the hallway directly outside 273. The submitted posters will be judged by a panel composed of GIS faculty and staff. The first prize winner will receive a $100 gift card to the University Bookstore and 1 year free ArcGIS desktop license.  3 runners up will each receive a 1 year free ArcGIS Desktop License. The GIS Center will also print out the posters for students at no charge when submitted to the contest.

Submission Guidelines

 

Map ID Game

Identify the places featured in this series of historical maps and sattellite imagery for the chance to win a $25 Starbucks card!!!! Maps and Images will be displayed on the 2nd floor of Green Library outside the GIS Lab (GL274).

The winner of the Map ID Game was Kana Yamashita who was the only person to answer 7 out of the 8 questions right. Congratulations Kana!
