How to SFTP  
 
 

You can use any SFTP (Secure FTP) client software to gain access to your gislab files.
Here are a couple of popular FREE clients:

Client Configuration Settings:

Enter the following Information:
Hostname: globe.fiu.edu
Port number: 275
User name: your username used in the GIS lab.
Password: your password
Protocol: SFTP

Instructions (using Filezilla on Windows XP):

Installation:

  1. Download the Filezilla client from http://filezilla-project.org
  2. Double click the setup installation file and follow installation's instructions. At the end of installation, click the close button.

Connecting:

  1. Open Filezilla.
  2. Go to File > Site Manager ...
  3. Click on the New Site button on the lower left corner.
  4. Type globe.fiu.edu under Host:
  5. Type 275 under Port:
  6. Select SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol in the Server Type list.
  7. Select Normal in the Logontype list.
  8. Type your GIS Account username in the User textbox.
  9. Type your GIS Account password in the Password textbox.
  10. Click on the Connect button to connect.
  11. If it's your first time you will get the Unknown host key window. Click OK.
